While looking over medical file of patients we come across such acronium E3V3M2
It is Glasgow coma score .
Glasgow coma scale / GCS
It's a neurological scale .
Use to assess patient's conscious level for initial as well as subsequent assessment in brain injury .

E - Eye respons 1 4
V- verbal response 1 5
M- motor response 1 6
Total 3 15
- GCS score can range from 3(completely unresponsive) to 15 (responsive)

- Oriented 5 (Ask for time,place ,person)
- Confused 4
- Inappropriate word 3 (Bus , pen)
- Incomprehensible sound. 2 (Like umm, EEE, aah)

- Intubated,tracheostomy NT
3). Motor
• obey commands 6
( Ask to protrude toung)
• painful stimuli 5
• withdrawal from pain 4
- Abnormal flexion 3
- Abnormal extension 2
- No response 1
- Paralysis not testable

- Brain injury classification on d basis of GCS score :
- Severe = less than 8
- Moderate = 8 or 9- 12
- Mild = 13 - 15
